DOE IG Report Provides Initial Assessment of EECBG Program; Continue Spending Your Block Grant Dollars!

In August 2010, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of the Inspector General issued an audit report on the EECBG program. The report provides a critical assessment of the EECBG program, concluding that few EECBG dollars have been spent to date.
Renewed EECBG funding is dependent on successful implementation of this first round. It’s critical that communities continue drawing down their EECBG resources. While the EECBG program was beset with initial hurdles, the framework, regulations and guidance are in place to ensure efficient use of block grant dollars. Bottom line: quickly spend your EECBG funding!
